Theme Day of the ICT Network on 15th of January

On 15.01.2021, the 22nd theme day of the ICT network of the University of Rostock took place on the topic "Digital Wellbeing? - Reflections on the Ergonomics of the Digitalisation". The theme day, organised by Prof. Fellmann with the assistance of Prof. Cap from Computer Science and Prof. Põder (Technology Ethics), focused on the extensive use of digital tools and media in recent months. After a brief introduction to the topic based on current studies by Prof. Fellmann, the 20 or so participants discussed the new challenges, but also facilitations, as well as new practices and behaviours that have arisen as a result of digitalisation. During the event, a dialogue was held on recent experiences and also surprises with regard to the "ergonomics of the digital". The question was specifically explored where and how digitalisation has proven beneficial in terms of work outcomes, (social) processes and also the efforts required for this. This was addressed on the basis of personal experiences of the last weeks and months. For the discussion, three small groups were formed, each moderated by a university lecturer. The topics of the small groups, which discussed in the virtual space, were communication in teaching and learning processes as well as the effects of digitalisation on productivity and success as well as on health and well-being. All in all, the 20 or so participants had a very lively discussion and new topics were identified that will be further explored outside the event.
