Available Software for Research and Teaching

A large part of the software used specifically for research and teaching is applied in the field of enterprise modeling. Here, modelling tools from industrial practice are available. For the domain of Enterprise Architecture Management Open Source Tools (like e.g. Archi) as well as conventional products are used, such as Enterprise Studio and Troux Architect. On the other hand, the chair has developed special tools for creating and managing enterprise models. The chair's 4EM method comes with a software tool, which was developed on the basis of the ADOxx platform. Developing and Investigating its effects, a software for participative modelingwas developed, which enables the development of models for MutliTouch tables by several users. The development of Enterprise Ontologies is supported by Protégé (Open Source) and TopBraid Composer (commercial). We are happy to make this modelling software available to students on request. In addition, the 4EM modeling tool can be used in the PC pools of the ITMZ.

The modeling tool of the chair's 4EM method for enterprise modeling is available free of charge for Windows operating systems on our homepage under Study and Teaching > Materials (Downloads). Students can also use it in any of the ITMZ's PC pools.

The chair uses the commercial EAM tool Enterprise Studio in both teaching and research. During the development of complex industry-specific enterprise architectures, ArchiMate models are created that can be modelled and analyzed with the software.
