How can artificial intelligence (AI) be used in small and medium-sized enterprises in the state? The Future Centre Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (ZMV+) supports companies who are interested in AI use.

Entrepreneurs can benefit from the use of AI just as much as their employees. Several steps are needed to show the way. "First we have to understand what the goals and challenges are in the respective company," explains Professor Kurt Sandkuhl, from the ZMV+. Often, the first step is digitalization, the introduction of AI would then be a second step.

The business information systems experts from ZMV+ know how to best use proven and also new technologies for a company. Among other aspects, business model, efficiency and customers play a role. "But the focus is always also on people. In many application cases, AI will not replace employees, but support them," emphasizes Sandkuhl, who also holds the Chair of Business Information Systems at the University of Rostock. Sandkuhl thinks that it is important to involve the employees from the beginning in this process. Those who can help to shape the solution to a problem usually have greater understanding and acceptance for this solution.
