BIR 2023 Impressions

Impressions of the University and City

The 22nd International Conference on Perspectives in Information Systems Research was held at the University of Camerino in Ascoli Piceno from September 13-15.

Some contents of BIR 2023 were:

  • two keynotes on "Open Data: Everything, Everywhere All at Once" by Bastiaan van Loenen and "Roles and Risks of AI in the Pursuit of Sustainable Innovation" by Steven Alter,
  • 24 accepted papers in the main part of the conference,
  • five workshops held jointly with BIR: 3rd International Workshop on Blockchain for Trusted Data Sharing (B4TDS 2023), 13th Workshop on Business and IT Alignment (BITA 2023), 8th Workshop on Managed Complexity (ManComp 2023), 1st Workshop on Domain-specific Modeling Methods and Tools - OMiLAB Nodes experience & knowledge exchange (OMiLAB-KNOW), and a PhD workshop where a total of six submissions were accepted, presented and discussed.

The Information Systems research group was well represented at BIR with 2 presentations and 3 chaired sessions: Jack Rittelmeyer presented his work on "Morphological Box for AI Solutions: Evaluation & Refinement with a Taxonomy Development Method" in the Main Track and Benjamin Nast presented on "MIoTA: Modeling IoT applications for air conditioning facilities with ADOxx" in the OMiLAB-KNOW workshop. Prof. Kurt Sandkuhl chaired the session on "Business & IS development" in the Main Track and the BITA Workshop. Dr. Anne Gutschmidt chaired a session of the OMiLAB-KNOW workshop.
