Since 2019, the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (KI MV) has been connecting AI research in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (MV), supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and coordinating projects to further develop artificial intelligence in MV. The center is based in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Rostock and has now been given a long-term future. The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern plans to fund AI MV with a total of 225,000 Euros annually going forward. The required funds will be contributed equally from the three participating ministries: the Ministries of Science, Finance, and Economic Affairs will each provide 75,000 euros per year. A corresponding agreement was signed by Minister Bettina Martin, Minister Dr. Heiko Geue, and Minister Dr. Wolfgang Blank on September 15, 2026.
