The Bachelor program in Business Information Systems at the University of Rostock achieved excellent ratings in the current ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) and took first place in a Germany-wide comparison. Students were surveyed to evaluate the study conditions. In addition, the CHE collected facts on teaching and research.

"This ranking offers prospective students an important orientation for their choice of study place, so we are all the more pleased about these excellent results. At the same time, they confirm the high level of commitment of our teachers and staff to provide our students with the best possible support and offer them excellent study conditions," emphasises Professor Elizabeth Prommer, Rector of the University of Rostock.

Professor Kurt Sandkuhl adds: "The Rostock Business Information Systems team is very happy and also a little proud of this result. This is the result of a very good cooperation between the students and the teachers from computer science and business administration. Over the past few years, we have worked together to keep improving the programme. In the last ranking, we were already among the top 10 in Germany. The fact that it has now become number 1 is a very pleasant surprise. We will take this as an incentive to continue to cultivate the strong points of the programme and to improve the areas where things are not yet running optimally. Such a ranking also helps with this, as we as a university not only get the public results, but also detailed evaluations with corresponding tips."

With around 120,000 students surveyed, the CHE University Ranking is a comprehensive comparison of universities and is intended to support first-year students in their choice of subject and location. This year, the subjects studied included business administration, economics, industrial engineering and business informatics.

The results are published in the ZEIT Study Guide, which has been available in stores and online since 9 May 2023.
