The examiners are Dr. Thomas Mundt from the Chair of Information and Communication Services and Prof. Kurt Sandkuhl from the Chair of Business Information Systems.

Abstract

This thesis examines approaches for evaluating and monitoring Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) in the context of public IT service providers. The objective is to develop a conceptual evaluation approach for DVZ M-V that identifies weaknesses and improvement potentials while supporting management-oriented reporting. The study is based on a case study, a systematic literature review, the design of an adapted approach, and the prototypical development of a supporting tool. The approach is evaluated through expert interviews and an exemplary application. The results indicate that a structured, context-specific approach enhances transparency, comparability, and continuous improvement of an ISMS.
