Despite Covid-19: Research and teaching continue

On 13.3.2020, the University of Rostock stopped its regular operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but research and teaching at the Chair of Business Information Systems continues, albeit with restrictions.

According to the university management, no examinations are allowed in teaching until 20.4. This applies in particular to the examination dates already scheduled in March, which must be shifted to the end of April. The supervision of Bachelor and Master theses continues. The students are in contact with their supervisors.

For the compulsory courses of the coming summer term, the Chair of Business Information Systems aims to offer these courses even if they have to take place completely online. We are currently working on preparations for lectures, exercises and seminars in terms of content, organization and technology. It will probably be necessary to require that participants in our courses have access to computers that we would normally have in our laboratories. We will inform about this in Stud.IP for each event. We are bound by the guidelines of the Rectorate for the forms of examination. It is not yet clear whether, for example, oral examinations or the presentation of seminar papers may take place online.

In research, almost all current research projects have online platforms in operation anyway, which allow the sharing of documents or the coordination of work. Project meetings are mostly conducted online. Many conferences or scientific workshops have been cancelled or moved to virtual rooms. The work on publications is essentially continuing in a regular way.
