On April 20, 2026, an expert hearing was held as part of the 22nd Southern Baltic Sea Parliamentary Forum in the plenary hall of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship Sejmik in Szczecin. This year’s theme was “Artificial Intelligence in the Southern Baltic Sea Region – Opportunities and Risks.” One of the experts invited to represent the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was Prof. Kurt Sandkuhl, who spoke about innovations driven by artificial intelligence (AI) based on examples from research and industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The Southern Baltic Parliamentary Forum is an interregional network of regional parliaments established in 2004, comprising the state parliaments of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schleswig-Holstein, the Hamburg Parliament, and the regional Polish representative bodies (Sejmiks) of the West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships. It facilitates multilateral exchange on regional issues, promotes partnerships, and adopts annual resolutions.
