Jack Rittelmeyer defends his M.Sc. Thesis

Jack Rittelmeyer, student of business information systems at the University of Rostock, will defend his master thesis on 14.09.2020 on the topic "Synergy effects between management systems and regulatory requirements from the perspective of enterprise architecture management". Supervisors and reviewers were Prof. Sandkuhl, Prof. Fellmann, and Felix Timm of the University of Rostock.

Abstract:
While introducing new management systems (MSs) and regulatory requirements, compa- nies often have to change and adapt their operational and organisational structure, which usually leads to considerable work and costs. On the other side, many enterprises already have other MSs and fulfil a diverse set of different regulatory requirements. This master thesis takes advantage of this fact and develops a framework for identifying overlaps between the different requirements, based on similarities between MSs discovered in the relevant literature. Thus, synergies between already implemented and new systems and requirements can get utilised. Finally, the framework will be applied and evaluated on an information security MS according to the ISO-27001 standard and the German basic requirements for the IT (BAIT). Thereby, it will be highlighted in which areas synergies were identified on the level of requirement documents as well as in a real company.
