At the site where ships were once built, the 2026 IHK Annual Reception served as a forum to discuss the future of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as a business hub. The Volkswerft Stralsund shipyard thus provided a fitting setting for dialogue among representatives from business, politics, and academia.
Under the motto “Choose the Future: Shaping the Economy Together with AI and Commitment,” the event focused in particular on the role of artificial intelligence for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as the economic policy challenges of the coming years. Expert insights were provided by, among others, IHK President Klaus-Jürgen Strupp, Minister President Manuela Schwesig, CDU Secretary-General Dr. Carsten Linnemann, and Prof. Dr. Isabell Welpe, who highlighted the opportunities AI offers for innovation and competitiveness in small and medium-sized enterprises in her keynote address.
The team from the Center for Artificial Intelligence Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was also represented on site with an information booth. The event offered numerous opportunities to engage in conversation with companies, institutions, and other stakeholders, to deepen existing contacts, and to discuss new perspectives for the use of AI in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
