New research project: AI for energy optimization

Together with Dr. Diestel GmbH, the Chair of Information Systems will work on the development of an AI-based approach for the energy optimization of ventilation and air conditioning systems over the next two years. Such systems are almost always complex systems adapted to the specific requirements of the operators, structural conditions, legal requirements and technical framework conditions. Although the components installed are usually (configurable) standard products, their combination and design solutions result in such a high degree of variability and diversity that energy optimization must essentially be performed individually for each system. Here, the use of artificial intelligence should enable a diagnostic system based on technical and physical measured variables, which is an important tool for energy optimization. In addition to the experience gained in the development of hybrid AI systems, the chair contributes knowledge of context-based, dynamic systems. The project is funded by the Ministry of Economics of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with support from the European Fund for Regional Development.
