Panel discussion "Science as alternative truth?" of the IuK

On Monday, 22 January 2020, an event was held in the auditorium of the University of Rostock on the topic "Science as an alternative truth? - Truth, Reality and the Media of the Enlightenment" with Professor Cornelius Borck (Institute for History of Medicine and Science Research at the University of Lübeck). The event was organized by the IuK-Verbund of the University of Rostock, whose work is supported by Prof. Fellmann as member of the board. Among other things, the event explored the question of whether fake news and so-called "alternative facts" endanger the democratic debate in our society and what role science can and should play in this context. Following the guest lecture by Cornelius Borck, Professor Rüdiger Köhling (University Medicine Rostock), Professor Stefan Scheel (Institute of Physics), Junior Professor Johann-Christian Põder (Faculty of Theology), Dr. Nicola Hömke (Institute of Classical Studies) and Professor emeritus Wolfgang Sucharowski (Linguistics and Communication Studies) from the University of Rostock discussed the theses of Professor Borck. The panel discussion will be moderated by Professor Kroll from the Institute for Media Research at the University of Rostock. The event was also attended by students of business informatics.
