Publication in the IJIM Journal on the topic of data-driven vehicle services

A paper on the conceptualisation of value creation in vehicle services has been accepted for publication in the internationally renowned “Journal of Information Management”. The article “Conceptualising Value Creation in Data-driven Services: The Case of Vehicle Data” results from the collaboration of an international and interdisciplinary team of authors. The authors Christian Kaiser and Alexander Stocker from the Virtual Vehicle Centre Graz were supported by Gianluigi Viscusi (Imperial College London) and the professors Michael Fellmann (University of Rostock) and Alexander Richter (Victoria University of Wellington). Based on interviews with eleven experts from the Central European automotive industry, the paper identifies key actors for data-driven vehicle services and describes their relationships and data exchange. Both are conceptualised in a multi-actor model that describes the value creation in data-driven vehicle services. The model is evaluated on the basis of six real cases. The study adopts an ecosystem perspective and marks an important step towards a systematic design of a conceptual multi-actor model for data-driven value creation in vehicles. This model can help to proceed systematically in the design of vehicle services, identify actors and required interfaces and structure future research efforts.
