The 26th International Conference on Business Information Systems (BIS 2026) took place from June 10 to June 12 in Prague (Czech Republic). BIS is a renowned international conference in the field of business informatics. Since its inception, it has been valued by academics and industry professionals as a forum for exchanging and disseminating the latest research on the development, implementation, application, and improvement of business computer systems.
This year’s theme, “From Hype to Impact: Turning AI into Real Business Value”, reflects the decisive shift in focus regarding AI: from a promising new frontier in technology to a central force shaping business strategies and innovation.
Benjamin Nast from Business Informatics gave a presentation titled “Large Language Models for Generating ArchiMate Models” in the Strategy, Architectures, and Information Maturity track. The accompanying paper was authored by Benjamin Nast, Tim Arlt, Justus Dakowski, and Kurt Sandkuhl. In it, the authors developed and evaluated an approach for generating enterprise architecture models from text using large language models (LLMs). The results of the experiments not only confirm the feasibility of this approach but also the models' promising quality. Furthermore, the paper derives a series of recommendations for the practical use of LLMs in enterprise architecture modeling and draws implications for future research.
