The 24th International Conference on Perspectives in Business Informatics Research (BIR 2025) took place from September 17 to 19 at the Technical University of Riga.
Some of the topics covered at BIR 2025 included:
- three keynotes on the topics of “Modeling Business Systems and Processes with SysML v2” by Gerd Wagner (Brandenburg University of Technology), “Why post-merger IS integration often fails and how to fix it” by Ksenija Lāce (Evolution and Riga Technical University), and “Responsible Business Innovation in the Context of Digital Transformation and Generative AI” by Kurt Sandkuhl (University of Rostock),
- 23 accepted contributions in the main part of the conference,
- three workshops held jointly with the BIR: 15th Workshop on Business and IT Alignment (BITA 2025), 10th Workshop on Managed Complexity (ManComp 2025), https://bir2025.rtu.lv/workshop/codit-challenges-and-opportunities-digital-transformation1st Workshop on Challenges and Opportunities in Digital Transformation (CODiT 2025) and a doctoral workshop at which a total of three submissions were accepted, presented, and discussed.
In addition to Kurt Sandkuhl's keynote speech at the BIR, the Business Informatics research group was well represented with five other presentations: Angelina Schmidt (Requirements and Design Options for Adaptive Step Goals in Health Recommender Systems), Kurt Sandkuhl (Empirical Insights into the Usage of Generative AI in Software Engineering), and Benjamin Nast (LLM Support for Domain Experts in Enterprise Modeling: Experiences and Implications) presented in the main track. In the BITA workshop, Nikola Ivanovic presented on “Towards building blocks for predictive analysis of HVAC systems” and Kurt Sandkuhl on “Integrating Business Models of Actors in Digital Business Ecosystems”.
