We are pleased that Dr. Michael Fellmann has accepted the call to the W2 professorship for Business Informatics, in particular Business Information Systems, at the University of Rostock. Michael Fellmann has held the Junior Professorship in Business Informatics at the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering since June 2015. The focus of his research is the model-based, engineering-based design of operational information systems for future digitalised and flexible working environments. Two directions are being pursued here: In the area of smart process management, “intelligent” data-driven assistance systems are developed to support flexible, knowledge-intensive business processes. The integration of software- and hardware-based sensor technology plays an important role here in order to achieve a context- and situation-appropriate digitalised execution of flexible business processes in the future. In the area of human-centred information systems, systems are being developed to positively influence personal working methods and productivity and to enable new, modern forms of participation in companies. The central concern of the research is to supplement the development of information systems with the aspects of health, well-being and personal development of the individual in the work process. Last but not least, this should also contribute to the sustainable performance of companies.
