On the 20th of September at 9 a.m. in room 001 (Konrad-Zuse-Building, Rostock), Leonie Förster will defend her Master's thesis on the topic of "Evaluation of communication formats for knowledge transfer in IT projects". Leonie is a Master's student in the Computer Science programme and was supervised by Ulrike Borchardt (Dataport) and Kurt Sandkuhl (Chair of Business Information Systems).
Abstract:
The use of agile methods and practices in various areas of application is becoming increasingly widespread. Various communication formats are also used in project management in the hope of utilising the positive effects of agile working methods. This thesis examines the extent to which such communication formats have a positive effect on the transfer of knowledge between project and line operations. A qualitative survey is conducted for this purpose. Employees of Dataport AöR are interviewed. The focus is on a specific format that was established as part of a project for communication between the project and line operations. The results of the survey are used to analyse how successful the transfer of knowledge has been. It becomes clear that there are deficits in knowledge transfer. Recommendations for action for future projects are derived on this basis. These include, for example, the definition of a strategy and the establishment of centralised knowledge management. The use of a supporting system component is recommended, but is dependent on the future knowledge management strategy.
