Abstract:

New digital technologies such as the Internet of Things and cloud computing are significant for the digitization of companies. The resulting rapid change in the market - including new regulations, new technologies and trends - leads to a very complex and multifaceted information model for companies. These market changes are forcing companies to adapt to new market demands and change their business model to remain competitive in the market. To overcome these challenges, companies must find a way to recognize the impact of these changes on their business. Faster adaptation to the ever-changing markets will increase efficiency as well as competitive advantages of companies. Many companies do not have a clear and documented overview of internal information, processes, services and regulations, making it difficult to adapt to these changes. Without this overview, the advantages or disadvantages of these impacts cannot be assessed. Therefore, the goal of this master thesis was to explore the impact of digitalization on the enterprise architectures of small and medium-sized enterprises. For this purpose, a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the changes in enterprise architecture models due to digitalization was conducted. For this purpose, a real company was used for the field research. By conducting expert interviews, company-related information could be obtained for a better analysis of the impact. Finally, to achieve the goal of this master thesis, a tool was developed to analyze enterprise architecture models and visualize the impact of digitalization.
