On May 28, at NØRD 2026, plans were unveiled for a DigitalHealthCampus at the University Medical Center Rostock, which is being developed in close collaboration with the University of Rostock and the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (Fraunhofer IGD). The project aims to further strengthen Rostock’s position as a central hub for digital health research, medical technology, and clinical translation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. At the same time, it will create an innovation space designed to translate scientific findings into medical practice more quickly. The DigitalHealthCampus is one of four pillars of the University of Rostock’s central scientific network “AI4SmartTechnologies.” This network bundles and strategically coordinates research activities in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
