PoEM 2022 impressions

The 15th IFIP WG 8.1 Working Conference on the Practice of Enterprise Modelling (PoEM) took place at Middlesex University in London from November 23-25, 2022. Some of the features of PoEM 2022 were

  • three keynotes addressing the thematic focus Enterprise Modelling and Model-driven Engineering: Prof. Alan W. Brown on “From Model-Based Software Engineering to Digital Twins: The Role of Modelling in Digital Transformation”, Richard Veryard on "Enterprise Modelling – Reflections on the History of an Idea" and Mick Dudley on “Enterprise Modelling as a Strategic Driver for Optimising Growth”.
  • 15 accepted high-quality paper presentations in the main track,
  • two workshops co-located with PoEM: 1st International Workshop on Digital Twin Engineering and 3rd Workshop on Blockchain and Enterprise Systems (BES),
  • two tutorials on "Hands-on Artefact-Centric Business Process Modelling with MERODE" and "Enterprise Modelling of digital business ecosystems – business cases, solutions and methodology gaps"
  • PoEM Forum with presentations of new research ideas and ongoing work,
  • Special Track for Models-at-Work

The Business Information Systems research group was well represented at PoEM with 2 paper presentations and 3 chaired sessions: Dr. Anna Gutschmidt presented her work on “Advantages and Limitations of Experiments for Researching Participatory Enterprise Modeling and Recommendations For Their Implementation” in the main track and Prof. Kurt Sandkuhl presented work on “Integrating Organizational and Technological Aspects of Digital Twin Engineering” in the Digital Twin Engineering Workshop.
