Abstract:

Time is one of the most precious resources in today's working world, which can be characterised by high workloads, constant time pressure, complexity and change. It is therefore essential to use this limited resource effectively, especially for important tasks. In this context, empirical studies suggest that time planning according to results or work areas is a successful practice. Therefore, in addition to time planning, knowing how much time is actually spent is also very important in time management. While existing time tracking tools record the time spent using an application or website, they lack a concrete allocation to result or work areas. In order to avoid the additional effort of a manual allocation, this thesis aims to develop a concept for the automated recognition of activities from computer usage logs and their allocation to work areas. In the context of this, a literature review is conducted and leads to the development of a prototype that automatically assigns logged activities to result and work areas.
