Johannes Wichmann studied Business Administration at the Wismar University of Applied Sciences, where he obtained the Bachelor of Arts (2015) as well as the Master of Arts (2017). As part of his master's thesis, he dealt with a procedure model for the implementation of different application systems based on the introduction of a project management software for the Wismar International Graduation Services GmbH. In doing so, specifications according to ISO/IEC 25010:2011(E) and IEEE Std 830-1998 as well as the modeling of business processes were the basis of the work.

Since the beginning of 2018 he is an external PhD student at the Chair of Business Informatics in Rostock and works as a research associate at the Wismar University of Applied Sciences. As part of his research, he investigates changes in enterprise architectures of hospitals and their impact on physical actors.
